The attention of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has been drawn to an online portal advertising job offers purportedly from the Council.
The said website advertised job offers that are supposedly meant for WAEC ad-hoc staff who would serve as supervisors and invigilators in the forthcoming West African Senior School Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates, 2024.
The Council would like to state categorically that the advert did not emanate from them and thereby disassociates itself from the fake job advert being circulated by unscrupulous individuals whose schemes are to defraud unsuspecting victims.
For the avoidance of doubt, the Council would like to emphasise to its stakeholders that the nomination of supervisors is solely done by the various Ministries of Education. On the other hand, invigilators are appointed by schools that present candidates for the examination.
Furthermore, as a globally recognised examining authority of a high calibre, the West African Examinations Council maintains an unwavering commitment to ethical practices and will never require job applicants or potential employees to provide monetary compensation in exchange for securing employment. Therefore, any individual who engages in any transaction with the aforementioned website or any other one, apart from the official WAEC website, does so at his/her own peril.
WAEC is not currently engaging in recruitment activities. Whenever job opportunities arise, they are exclusively advertised through the daily newspapers, WAEC Nigeria’s official website (www.waecnigeria.org), and all of there social media platforms. We therefore, caution all individuals who engage in deceptive practices to desist from such immediately and turn a new leaf.
