The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the results of the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE Internal), with the council reporting a significant reduction in cases of examination malpractice compared with the previous year.

According to NECO, a total of 1,378,048 candidates registered for the 2026 SSCE, while 1,371,992 candidates eventually sat for the examination.
The council disclosed that 804,948 candidates, representing 58.67%, obtained at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics.
Meanwhile, 1,126,118 candidates, representing 84.70%, obtained at least five credits regardless of their performance in English Language and Mathematics.

The NECO Registrar also addressed reports concerning so-called “miracle centres” during the briefing.
According to Prof. Dantani Wushishi, NECO does not operate or endorse miracle centres. He explained that the council registers examination centres based on established criteria and does not own or operate such centres.
He further stated that NECO owns only one school and therefore cannot be associated with miracle centres allegedly operating across the country.
Candidates and members of the public are therefore advised to be cautious of individuals or centres claiming to have special connections with NECO or promising guaranteed examination results.
