WAEC GCE (2nd Series) 2025 registration has commenced

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that registration for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates – Second Series is now open. The registration fee is ₦27,000, and all intending candidates are encouraged to read this guide carefully to complete their registration successfully.


Registration Process

  • Registration is online only via www.waeconline.org.ng using a purchased Registration PIN.
  • The process includes biometric data capture for identity verification at examination centres.
  • All candidates are encouraged to practice with WAEC Past Questions (Objective & Theory) and the Osilight WAEC CBT Software or Mobile App to get familiar with the new Computer-Based Test (CBT) format.

Registration Timeline

  • Start Date: Monday, June 9, 2025
  • PIN Purchase Deadline: Friday, August 22, 2025
  • Final Registration & Biometrics Deadline: Sunday, August 24, 2025 at 11:59 PM

Registration Fee: ₦27,000 (plus ₦500 bank/agent commission)

Access Bank, Ecobank, Fidelity Bank, First Bank, FCMB, GTBank, Heritage Bank, Jaiz Bank, Polaris Bank, Stanbic IBTC, Standard Chartered, Sterling Bank, Union Bank, UBA, Unity Bank, Wema Bank, Zenith Bank.

You can also pay via cashless channels such as Interswitch, Paga, PalmPay, Paycom, Etranzact, CoralPay, Bancwize, Broadshift, SystemSpecs, and others listed in the WAEC advert.


Special Categories

  • Walk-In Candidates: ₦45,000 — Register at least 24 hours before your paper.
  • Candidates with Special Needs: Register online as normal but clearly indicate your impairment type (e.g., visual, speech, hearing).

Important Registration Notes

  • Complete your registration within two weeks of first logging in.
  • Ensure correct details: name, gender, date of birth, subjects, and passport photo.
  • Admission Notice (with your Result Checker PIN) must be printed after successful registration.
  • Only UareU digitalPersona fingerprint scanners are accepted.
  • Passport photo: JPEG, 275×314 pixels, 72 dpi, plain contrasting background, no obstructions.

Exam Format

  • Objective papers: Fully CBT.
  • Essay & Practical: Hybrid — questions on screen, answers written on paper.
  • An online mock test will be available; details will be sent via SMS, email, and social media.

Rules & Regulations

  • No refunds after payment.
  • No mobile phones or electronic devices in the exam hall.
  • Dress in mufti — no uniforms allowed.
  • No smoking in exam halls.
  • Results will be cancelled for:
    • Multiple centre attendance
    • Exam malpractice (with possible prosecution)
