WAEC GCE (2nd Series) 2025 Registration Guide – Deadline Extended

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced an extension for the registration deadline of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates (2nd Series).

  • New Registration Deadline: Sunday, October 19th, 2025 (11:59 pm)
  • PIN Generation Closes: Friday, October 17th, 2025

Overview

The registration for the 2025 WAEC GCE (2nd Series) is currently ongoing. The examination is open to all private candidates interested in obtaining the WASSCE certificate. The registration fee is ₦27,000 only. Candidates are advised to follow the registration guidelines carefully to avoid errors or invalid entries.


Registration Method

All registrations will be done online.

  1. Purchase a Registration PIN from any approved bank or accredited agent.
  2. Visit the official registration portal at www.waeconline.org.ng.
  3. Complete the registration form and capture biometric data, which will be verified at the examination centre.

Note: The registration system includes biometric verification for identification purposes.


Payment Options

Candidates can pay the ₦27,000 registration fee at any of the following banks or accredited agents:

Access Bank, Ecobank, Fidelity Bank, First Bank, FCMB, GTBank, Heritage Bank, Jaiz Bank, Polaris Bank, Stanbic IBTC, Standard Chartered, Sterling Bank, Union Bank, UBA, Unity Bank, Wema Bank, and Zenith Bank.

A ₦500 commission is payable to the bank or agent.

Alternative Cashless Payment Options are also available through platforms such as:
Interswitch, Paycom, Paga, Palmpay, Unified Payments, Etranzact, Itex, UBA, Capricorn Ltd, Bancwize Ltd, and others.


Walk-in Candidates

Candidates who miss the official registration deadline may register as Walk-in Candidates, provided they do so at least 24 hours before the scheduled paper.

  • Fee: ₦45,000 only.

Candidates with Special Needs

Special needs candidates (e.g. visually impaired, hearing impaired, speech difficulties) should also register online and indicate their type of impairment clearly during registration.


Where to Register

Candidates can complete registration and biometric capturing at:

  • Accredited Banks
  • Cyber Cafés
  • WAEC Offices
  • Approved WAEC Registration Points

Completion of Registration

Candidates must:

  • Complete registration within two weeks of first access to the website.
  • Verify all personal information including name, gender, date of birth, photograph, and subjects.
  • Print the Admission Notice, which serves as both exam identification and contains the Result Checker PIN.

Only the UareU DigitalPersona Fingerprint Scanner is acceptable for biometric capture.


General Examination Information

  • The 2025 WAEC GCE 2nd Series will be a Computer-Based Test (CBT).
  • Objective papers: Fully CBT.
  • Essay and practical tests: Hybrid (questions displayed on screen; answers written on paper).
  • A mock examination will be organized for interested candidates. Date and details will be sent via SMS, email, and social media.
  • The registration fee is non-refundable.

Important Guidelines

  • Check the WAEC website regularly for the official examination timetable.
  • Passport photographs must be:
  • Taken with a Microsoft HD 3000 digital camera.
  • JPEG format, 275×314 pixels, 72 dpi, black and white or color, with a plain background.
  • Poor-quality photos will invalidate the entry.
  • Download and study the WAEC Regulations and Syllabuses using the Registration PIN on the WAEC website.
  • Candidates must appear in mufti (no uniforms) and without arms.
  • Possession of mobile phones or electronic gadgets in the examination hall will result in cancellation of results.
  • Smoking is prohibited in examination halls.
  • Candidates must enter the hall with their original Admission Notice only.
  • Any act of examination malpractice will lead to result cancellation and possible prosecution.
  • Ensure all registration details are correct — corrections after submission will not be accepted.
  • Candidates should provide valid email addresses and phone numbers during registration for communication.

Preparation Tip

As this is the first WAEC examination to include Computer-Based Testing, candidates are strongly encouraged to familiarize themselves with the CBT format. Using WAEC/NECO CBT practice software or mobile apps will help build confidence and improve performance.
